Green house gases (CO2 – CH4 – N2O) dynamics within fjord sea ice

Green house gases (CO2 – CH4 – N2O) dynamics within fjord sea ice

Start/end date:
Monday, March 4, 2013 - 08:00 to Wednesday, April 17, 2013 - 18:00
Event type:

We proposed to follow the dynamics of the three main (CO2 – CH4 and N2O) green houses gases within sea ice and the interactions sea ice – seawater and sea ice – atmosphere. We will also look at the sediment to determine if there is any contribution from it to the seawater – ice concentration. In addition to the CO2 fluxes between the ice and the atmosphere, we proposed to measure the CH4 and N2O fluxes, which has never been done before. A particular attention will be given to the precipitation of ikaite and its dynamics with the water column.

Site: Kanajorusuit Fjord, Greenland
