Greenland Sea Campaign 2017
Greenland Sea Campaign 2017
NorthGreen (NE Greenland)
The Northgreen expedition will focus on the past and current changes in Arctic ice shelves, ocean circulation, sea ice extent, sediment transport and freshwater discharge from the Greenland ice cap. It will allow a comprehensive study of the consequences of such major changes on ocean circulation, iceberg release, pelagic/benthic ecosystems and the future evolution of both biological and geological resources around Greenland. We will combine oceanographical and geophysical surveys with marine sediment sampling and studies of benthic and pelagic life, as well as microbial processes in the permanently frigid subsurface sediments.
