Integrated Carbon Observation System (ICOS)

Integrated Carbon Observation System (ICOS)

Start/end date:
Sunday, July 1, 2018 - 00:00 to Tuesday, July 31, 2018 - 00:00
Event type:

The infrastructure ICOS RI, is a European infrastructure consisting of measurement sites where concentrations of atmospheric carbon climate gases and/or ecosystem fluxes are measured. ICOS/DK is a network of measurement sites in Denmark and Greenland, which will contribute to the European ICOS RI. This infrastructure will certify that measurements are comparable and facilitate distribution of data within different research groups. ICOS/DK follows the common standards and protocols for measurements, data acquisition, quality assurance and publicity of data, which is established during the development of ICOS RI.

ICOS-SNO at Station Nord is an ICOS atmospheric station which also measures energy fluxes and will be established at the Villum Research Station during 2017-20. This station will provide long time series of meteorological parameters, concentrations of CO2 and CH4, air – sea ice fluxes of energy and matter over a large footprint. These data can be used for model validation and for improved process understanding and a freely available. At this specific trip we will start installation of CO2 and CH4 measurement instruments and data acquisition in the tall masts to monitor the concentration of CO2 and and CH4.
