My work while in the field varies year to year, but in general I look at the atmosphere and how the sea ice and the ocean influence it. In order to look at the atmosphere I launch weather balloons, take manual observations for visibility, precipitation and sea ice cover, and measure the cloud cover and cloud height with various instruments.
