Vacant PhD / MSc positions in polar ocean modelling at CEOS

As the Greenland Ice Sheet and northern ice caps and glaciers retreat rapidly in response to climate change, an increasing volume of freshwater is entering the subpolar North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. The freshening of these regions has important consequences to the ocean’s physical and biogeochemical characteristics, including alteration of ocean circulation, sea surface temperature trends, and primary productivity – all of which feedback on Earth’s climate system. I’m seeking highly motivated students at MSc or PhD level interested in studying this freshwater-marine coupling using an ocean model (namely, the Nucleus for European Modelling of the Ocean, NEMO). The successful candidate will work under my guidance (Dr. Juliana Marson). Candidates should hold a degree in Oceanography, Meteorology, Physical Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field. The start date for this project is flexible.
