In June 2014, researchers from ARC/Bioscience, Aarhus University, conducted field work on board Polarstern in Fram Strait, investigating ice algae's adaptation to light in multi-year and first-year ice with respect to snow and ice thickness. They group (Lars Chresten Lund-Hansen, Brian Sorell and Bibi Ziersen) covered a transect from East Greenland to Svalbard and worked together with colleagues from AWI in Bremerhafen.
