Leg 1b: Pond Inlet to Resolute (12 August – 05 September)

Leg 1b will start from Pond Inlet on 12 August. Participants joining the ship for Leg 1b will have to make their own travel arrangements as there is no ArcticNet charter flight going to Pond Inlet on 12 August (see First Air http://www.firstair.ca/ and Canadian North  http://www.canadiannorth.com/). After the science crew change, the Amundsen will resume its transit north and spend the next 3 weeks conducting oceanographic sampling operations at designated stations in Lancaster Sound and northern Baffin Bay. Depending on ice conditions, sampling operations will be conducted as far north as Kane Basin (79°N). Several days in the Leg have also been allotted for storm related sampling, Lagrangian sampling, ice island surveys and MVP operations. The ship is scheduled to be in Resolute on 05 September for a full Coast Guard crew change and the end of Leg 1b.
