The final Leg of the 2013 Amundsen expedition will start from Kugluktuk on 01 October. Participants joining the ship for Leg 2b will have to take care of their own travel arrangements, as there is no ArcticNet charter flight heading for Kugluktuk on 01 October (see First Air http://www.firstair.ca/ and Canadian North http://www.canadiannorth.com/). After the science crew change in Kugluktuk, the ship will sail back east conducting sampling operations in M’Clintock Channel, Lancaster Sound and Baffin Bay. Ship time has also been allotted for opportunistic ice island surveys along the coast of Baffin Island. In addition to ArcticNet sampling operations, the Amundsen will be supporting the 2013 Schools on Board program. A last stopover in Iqaluit on 11 October will provide ArcticNet and Schools on Board participants with an opportunity to disembark from the ship before the return to Quebec City.

 

The ship is scheduled to be in Quebec City on 16 October.
