Carbon cycling in fjords impacted by glacial meltwater input

Start/end date:
Sun, 2015-02-01 00:00 to Sat, 2016-12-31 00:00
Event type:
Research

Godthåbsfjord is an efficient carbon sink due to high biological uptake and high input of subglacial meltwater. Monthly surveys in the fjord will be made during 2016 to assess the sources and sinks of carbon in Godthåbsfjord.

Baysys Team 5: Contaminants

Start/end date:
Sun, 2015-12-20 10:30
Event type:
Research
The objective of Team 5 is to examine how contaminant transport and transformation in the Hudson Bay ecosystem responds to regulation and a changing climate.

Lead: F. Wang (U. Manitoba); Manitoba Hydro Co-Lead: A. Zacharias, S. Wakelin
Members: D. Lobb (U. Manitoba), P. Owens (UNBC), E. Petticrew (UNBC), R. Macdonald (U. Manitoba), G. Stern (U.

Baysys Team 4: Carbon Cycling

Start/end date:
Sun, 2015-12-20 10:30
Event type:
Research
The objective of Team 4 is to differentiate the relative importance of climate-related impacts and industrial impacts on the Bay’s carbon source/sink status.

Lead: T. Papakyriakou (U. Manitoba); Manitoba Hydro Co-Lead: R. Gill, W. Hamlin
Members: Z.Z. Kuzyk (U. Manitoba), B. Else (U. Calgary), C. Guéguen (Trent U.), L. Miller (DFO), S. Rysgaard (U.

Baysys Team 3: Marine Ecosystems

Start/end date:
Sun, 2015-12-20 10:15
Event type:
Research
The objective of Team 3 is to assess how different drivers collectively affect biological productivity and the diversity and interaction of water column organisms (microbes, algae and consumers) and the benthos, with an aim to identify the fate of nutrients entering Hudson Bay through marine gateways and regulated versus unregulated rivers.

BaySys Team 1: Marine and Climate System

Start/end date:
Sun, 2015-12-20 10:00
Event type:
Research
The objective of Team 1 is to understand and differentiate between how changes in climate variability and regulation will affect (or have affected) processes related to mass and energy exchange between the freshwater, marine, sea ice and atmosphere systems. The focus of Team 1 will be processes determining timing, location and volume of freshwater supply to Hudson Bay.

Leader: D. Barber (U. Manitoba); Manitoba Hydro Co-Lead: S. Toews
Members: I. Dmitrenko (U. Manitoba), J. Ehn (U. Manitoba), M. Granskog (Norwegian Polar Institute), G. McCullough (U.
